Universal Studios Hollywood is officially celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Studio Tour and is marking the moment by offering all-new experiences to fans.
These experiences will run from April 26 to August 11 and will include immersive photo opportunities, updates to the tour, nostalgic temporary additions, and being able to step off the tram into the studio backlot.
The Studio Tour first opened in July of 1964 and allows visitors to travel through a working film studio, with various film sets on the lot.
Back in the day, the tour was much more stripped back but gave guests the chance to sit in the outdoor bleachers and cheer on actors filming on set.
More than 200 million guests have been taken behind the scenes of working TV and movie productions over the last 60 years.
What does the Universal Studios Hollywood 60th anniversary tour include?
As the Studio Tour has its 60th birthday, one of the most notable changes in the celebrations is the chance for people to get off the tram and into a movie set. According to Undercover Tourist, there’ll be an original and fully restored 1964 vintage Glamor Tram, a giant King Kong backdrop, and the theme park’s original hanging “Jaws” shark.
The simulated natural disaster attraction – ‘Earthquake – The Big One’ – is said to have been fully refurbished too and will feature new technology and aesthetics.
The Studio Tour will also take a stop at Courthouse Square, where scenes from the ‘Back to the Future’ movies were filmed.
More surprises from former parts of the Tour will be present too, with Universal Studios having pulled out lots of props from their archives.
The Studio Tour will last around 60 minutes and a selection of limited edition retro themed merchandise will be available at select locations in the park and on City Walk. Special themed food and beverages will be on offer too.
