Delta Airlines wins big at the Forbes Travel Guide’s inaugural Verified Air Travel Awards as it sweeps five categories, including ‘Best US Airline.’
The awards were announced at the end of October, with 22 being on offer across a range of categories like ‘Best Airport Dining,’ ‘Best Loyalty Program, ‘Innovation of the Year’ and more.
It was Delta Airlines which scored the top spot for ‘Best US Airline,’ ‘Best Domestic Business Class,’ ‘Best U.S. Airline Lounge,’ ‘Best Loyalty Program,’ and ‘Best Airline App.’
In the airline’s article following the awards, the E.V.P. and Chief Customer Experience Officer Allison Ausband said: “We continue to make significant investments throughout every point in our customers’ travel journey to deliver the elevated experiences they want and deserve.
“These recognitions are a testament to each of those efforts and to the Delta people who go above and beyond in bringing these experiences and innovations to life.”
Emirates was the winner of ‘Best International Airline,’ and LaGuardia in New York was voted ‘Best U.S. Airline.’
Delta wins big – how are Forbes Travel Awards decided?
The scoring for these awards included 5,000 of the “most well-traveled people in the hospitality industry, including luxury travel advisors and FTG’s most frequent fliers, its incognito inspectors and training team.” The results were then validated by the experts at Forbes Travel Guide.
“Too many travel industry awards are the result of a somewhat suspect popularity contest. The Verified Air Travel Awards are important because the metrics are based on real-world experience and real-world accountability,” says Peter Greenberg, Emmy Award-winning travel journalist and host of Eye on Travel on CBS Radio, to Forbes.
“In a world experiencing an explosion of luxury brands, it’s not about pretty pictures or mission statements, but the unbiased opinions of veteran travelers coupled with reliable facts that lead to a credible and relevant definition of excellence.”
