American Express Travel has announced its 10 must-visit destinations for 2025 based on travel bookings from customers and expertise from its network of consultants.

These trending destinations are said to have millennial and Gen Z travelers in mind, with the credit card company expanding its ‘The Hotel Collection’ properties to include the listed destinations.

In no particular order, the top ten destinations to visit in 2025 are…

  • Franschhoek, South Africa
  • Koh Samui, Thailand
  • Macau, China
  • Moab, Utah, United States
  • Nikko, Japan
  • Paros, Greece
  • São Paulo, Brazil
  • Sun Valley, Idaho, United States

“We want our Card Members to experience all that travel has to offer,” said Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel in an online press release.

“Through our global travel expertise, guides like our annual Trending Destinations list and our lodging programs like The Hotel Collection, we help our Card Members plan all types of trips and inspire them to explore new places. 

“This year, we’ve added more than 300 new properties in top destinations to The Hotel Collection, so Card Members have even more options for where to stay when they get there.”

American Express share travel findings in latest research

In the study looking at travel habits, American Express found that 72% of millennial and Gen Z travelers are more likely to book hotels that offer card rewards and 70% are interested in a credit card with a collection of hotel benefits across the world.

To match what the team has discovered in its findings, Amex has increased its lodging program by 40% “to include over 1,000 hotels and expanded to 50 new destinations.”

This ‘trending destinations’ list is one that the company curates annually, with the previous version including: Adelaide Hills in Australia, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, Bodrum in Turkey, Santa Fe in the United States, Niseko in Japan, Seychelles, Porto Cervo in Italy, Udaipur in India, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Zermatt in Switzerland.
