While the beautiful resort village of Cala d’Or in Mallorca is only small, its restaurants pack a punch as they have several cuisines in the area – along with incredible food offerings.
Although I enjoy working remotely and do so from beautiful locations, I took five days off to fully relax when visiting Cala d’Or and had a lovely vacation.
It’s a relaxed area with some incredible views – think quaint scenic coves and white sandy beaches.
For those visiting, here are three restaurants in Cala d’Or that you should add to your must-visit list. However, note that there are many in the area – the below feature a mix of cuisines.
Check out the video I filmed with my recommendations, via TikTok.
Where is Cala d’Or in Mallorca?
Often referred to as the ‘Golden Bay,’ Cala d’Or is on the east coast of the island of Mallorca and is located in the municipality of Santanyi.
It’s advertised as a holiday resort and is a very relaxing destination for families, couples, and yachties.
Right in the center is a marina where you’ll find people chartering yachts, going off to do watersports, or people mooring their boat to explore.
Can you do a day trip from Palma to Cala d’Or?
You absolutely can combine a trip to Palma, the capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca, with Cala d’Or.
While it looks like it would be an extremely long voyage when looking at a map, there’s actually only about 64km between the two.
This means that if you hire a car or a taxi, it would take around 50-55 minutes. With the airport on the island being in Palma, you’ll have to make the distance anyway if you want to visit Cala d’Or.
I did so by making a reservation with the taxi service in the resort village and arranging a ride from the airport. There are also a number of day trips from the nearby areas to Palma and back.
Where to eat in Cala d’Or: Three top restaurants
Bo.cana
If you’re looking for seafood or Spanish cuisine, Bo.cana should be on your list. It’s situated nearer the end of the Marina, so it’s just a short walk if you’re staying in the center of Cala d’Or.
It is a tapas restaurant, but it does have other options if you’re looking for a main meal to have to yourself rather than in the typical sharing style.
The paella was a hit here, as were the cocktails (the Moscow Mule was my favorite of the trip!)
“Original recipes and signature cocktails in a cozy atmosphere. Bocana is a restaurant that offers a new gastronomic concept and modern cocktails to dine in Cala d’Or. A modern and cozy place where you can enjoy quality cuisine,” the website states.
Steakhouse Old West
If you’re looking for a steakhouse and wish to stay close to where you’ll be staying (if in Cala d’Or) then check out Steakhouse Old West.
Again, it’s located along the harbor and its terrace-style seating outside makes for a great people watching spot.
It has an extensive menu, filled with daily fresh ingredients and dry-aged meat.
While when I visited there were only two of us, this seemed like a great restaurant for celebrating with a group too.
Heavenshouse Burgers
If you’re all tapas’d out, Heavenshouse Burgers is an amazing restaurant that is perfect for either lunch or dinner.
The owner was lovely and very attentive, even offering us a slice of free dessert pizza. The service was impeccable.
As you’d expect from the name, it serves mainly burgers but does have a good caesar salad too if you’re looking for something fresh and lighter!
