Delta Airlines has unveiled a new interior and cabin design across its fleet which will begin flying on domestic and short haul international routes later this year.
The design has been described by the company as enhancing “customer experience and showcases the future of flying with Delta.”
The airline will bring in the upgrade ahead of the centennial anniversary next year, with it first to be shown on the Boeing 757 aircraft later this fall. The design will then get rolled out in early 2025 to the widebody Airbus A350.
“From fresh seating materials, enhanced lighting and a renewed color palette, to new decorative motifs and signature branding, every aspect of the cabin interior has been carefully planned and thoughtfully redesigned to elevate the travel experience,” writes the team behind Delta through their news hub.
What upgrades will Delta Airlines introduce with the new interior?
The change will see breathable materials brought in for the seats, including memory-foam cushions on widebody jets, and lighting “that promotes relaxation will span the fleet.”
The aim is to help ‘customers feel at home during their travels,’ with changes to several elements.
‘Enhanced lighting programs’ have been incorporated to create a cohesive and calming onboard environment and have the changing of time zones in mind too.
“Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish,” said Mauricio Parise, Vice President – Customer Experience Design in the news release.
“For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open.
“At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner – making meals more natural and inviting.
“As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones which are reminiscent of a sunset glow. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.”
Other changes include a reimagining of its brand colors and design elements, with the company leaning more towards a softer, warmer, and more modern color palette.
The lavatories will be refreshed, along with the new design motifs being added throughout the aircrafts.
