A new Japanese luxury resort has opened, nestled on a hilltop in the seaside city of Atami with views over Sagami Bay and just 45 minutes from Tokyo by bullet train.
Named the Atami Izusan Karaku, this property is the second opening for the resort brand Karaku which is owned by Orix Hotels & Resorts.
The resort’s home city Atami is in the Shizuoka Prefecture southwest of Tokyo. While it’s not as popular with tourists as it once was, it’s often described as a ‘coastal gem of hot springs’ and a prime location for honeymooning couples.
The area is sometimes referred to as ‘Japan’s Rivera’ too thanks to its coastline and beaches.
The Atami Izusan Karaku resort comprises 57 guest rooms, ranging from Deluxe Rooms to Karaku Rooms, Universal Rooms and the Karaku Suites. The local bay is the muse for the design.
There are two large public onsen baths for guests to enjoy, each equipped with open-air and indoor baths, saunas and panoramic views.
